Random Thought About Old Fanfics

Ever remember an old fanfic that you read and enjoyed and try to find it to reread it, only to discover that the author has erased it from the Internet? For usually these reasons:

1)      The author is no longer in the fandom

2)      The author is trying to rewrite the fanfic and so has erased the old version

3)      The author just doesn’t like the fanfic anymore or thinks that it was badly-written

Because this has happened to me and I just get a sad feeling when it happens. Yes, the old fanfics that I’m talking about weren’t always well-written and they weren’t perfect, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. Even if the authors don’t like them anymore or are embarrassed by them, I still liked them. I don’t see why they have to remove the fanfics if they aren’t in the fandom anymore. Oh, well.
