Review of “Beauty and the Beast” (1978)

So, after watching “La Belle et la Bête” (2014) on YouTube, I discovered that another kind soul had posted another version of Beauty and the Beast, this time from the Czech Republic. “Panna a Netvor” or “Beauty and the Beast” was made in 1978 (when the Czech Republic was still Czechoslovakia). Unlike the other video posting, this one mercifully had subtitles, which was a godsend for me because I do not speak a word of Czech.

So, with more curiosity than excitement, I sat down to watch this version, not knowing what to expect. And actually…I kind of liked this one.
