Oftentimes when I’m thinking about social issues, whether it be feminism or issues surrounding race, I try to imagine the parallel scenario. When it’s an issue regarding women, I imagine how the situation would play out if it involved men. When it’s an issue involving a non-white group, be they East Asian, black, etc., I try to imagine if it would still be considered fair if the roles were reversed and it was whites instead.

The main issue is that I try to be fair and avoid double standards when thinking about social issues. This is why I’m often frustrated by many Social Justice Warriors (SJWs) on the Internet. There are numerous posts about social issues that I’ve read and enjoyed and that have thought-provoking points. And then there are others that cause me to scratch my head or wonder if this person is truly being serious. These posts include a whole gamut of social issues: sexism, racism, ableism, homophobia, etc., which makes it more difficult to critique them without being accused of displaying one of the aforementioned prejudices. But there have been posts that just baffle me because the writers seem to not understand the concept of double standards. And the types of these posts that tend to baffle me the most are the ones concerning the purported racism in recent Disney films.
